I have gained 16 pound in the last year I am 61 years old I have extreme back fat and under my arms and on my breast sides my right side is getting larger then left I am so uncomfortable and embarrassed can do lipo to remove the fat I am in las vegas Nevada

First of all, I would advise you to go see your primary care doctor first and inquire about your hormone status. A severe imbalance in testosterone, thyroid, and Growth Hormone may significantly affect the deposition of your recent fat. Secondly, are you optimizing your diet and exercise program? Lastly, liposuction can definitely help shape and remove the fat. Often in our practice, we see our patients lose more weight after their procedures! The back is thick and has a terrific recoil potential, even in 61 year olds. Start your journey to make sure there is no medical issues that need attention. Good luck!

Answer: Body recontouring after 16 pounds of weight gain. Each area in question would have to be evaluated to determine the potential benefits of liposuction. Older patients do not have the elasticity in the skin to accommodate the reduction in volume created by liposuction which can create a secondary aesthetic issue. Liposuction will also not remove 16 pounds of fat.
