Anesthesia and pain medication can cause constipation which can lead to hemorrhoids from straining, Try stool softeners, and inform your surgeon. Good luck.
Hello,A tummy tuck, itself wouldn't cause hemorrhoids but many people are constipated after this surgery and so straining can contribute to this. All the best, Dr. BlaggAustin, TX
Thank you for sharing your question. Though the tummy tuck would not cause hemorrhoids, any straining that accompanies constipation due to anesthesia or pain medications may. I would talk to your surgeon about getting you on a better bowel regimen to help the hemorrhoids resolve. Best wishes.
Constipation due to pain medication following tummy tuck would not be unusual, and may aggravate hemorrhoids which you previously had. You may just need a stool softener. However a change in bowel movements may suggest something else unrelated to a tummy tuck.
Hemorrhoids aren't really linked to a tummy tuck per se, but constipation which leads to hermorrhoids are linked to anesthesia and narcotic pain medications. These two factors as well as not moving around as much can slow down your digestive tract. Be sure to drink fluids and move around as advised by your surgeon. You can get stool softeners or laxatives at your local drug store if needed.
