The back pain may be from the liposuction itself or your positioning in bed. Give yourself time to heal from the liposuction. If concerned, speak with your surgeon.
Many abdominal or hip procedures can leave patients with back pain. Sometimes it is a direct operative site such as liposuction that hurts because of swelling, bruising, or both. Ice helps early on in the first few days. After that heat may be more helpful. Back pain may also result from patient positioning after liposuction of the abdomen or hips or abdominoplasty. Many patients can't stand up straight or cannot sleep in their usual positions leading to back pain. Warm compresses or baths, massage and time are the best cures. Certainly, there are rare causes of back pain not directly related to the surgery such as kidney problems that can occur during the perioperative period. If the pain persists, discuss the details with your surgeon.
Time will help this. Some of your pain may be from alteration in your sleeping position. Sometimes a bunch of pillows or a body pillow can help you find a more comfortable position for your back. Also, warm compresses can help but be careful. You probably have some skin numbness and too much heat could burn your skin. Also, make sure you are getting up and around. Gentle movement almost always helps.
Pain in the low back area is a reality in 100% of patients after hip, flank liposuction. The absolute 95% cure is time. There is no alternative. In 2 or 3 months your pain will fade and fade and go away. Meanwhile avoid salt (sodium). Salt makes you swell more and swelling causes pain. Of course aspirin and ibuprofen help. Try physical trerapy things such as heat and cold. See which works. Massage usually is comforting. Ultrasonic PT does a little possible but don.t hold your breath. A back support type garment may feel good. We humans are impatient. When there is surgery there is some pain. Low back liposuction causes low back swelling and pain. 95% of the relief comes with time. You cant rush it. Of course the above plus sleeping medication and even occasional narcotic medication can help. Also a Medrol dose pack can add steroid influence and relief if you are really bothered. Liposuction after coolsculpting is absolutely possible and Iin fact I have done this. Understandably, some patients want more than the non-surgical modalities can deliver and there is no problem performing liposuction after coolsculpting treatments.
There is no way to predict exactly what the scars after liposuction will look like because patient genetics, aftercare, surgical technique etc all have an impact on the final scar result. It is therefore best to place those liposuction access sites in areas where the scars would be least visible...
Thank you for your question. I am sorry to hear of your experience. Skin depressions and wavy lines can be treated with Fat Injections. At the same procedure high areas of fat left behind can be contoured with Liposuction. I have found Laser liposuction very helpful in these situations.
