Am I Healing Correctly of my Otoplasty? (photo)

I had otoplasty 3 weeks ago. Overall I am very pleased with the result. My ears look symmetrical and close to my head, yet completely natural. The thing that worries me, is the appearance of the back of my ears. There are still scabs on my ear and I can feel some stitches, 2 for each ear. I rarely have pain, but my 'scars' look bad, I include photo's (some are better than others) and would really like to know if this is normal healing for 3 weeks.

Thanks for these questions. You should check with your surgeon about suture removal. It is not necessarily infected. In many cases the suture is permanent and exposure of such a stitch should be removed. Good luck!

This can be normal but have your PS check it out. Sometimes wounds seep a little while healing and this can be part of the healing process. But you want to make sure there is no infection.

The postoperative care for any surgical intervention is important.  Avoiding unnecessary pulling on your ears following otoplasty makes sense. I counsel my patients to alert their hairdressers to be mindful not to pull the ears forward while undergoing the first few haircuts following otoplasty.
