What is the procedure if I want new implants? Do you remove them and insert new, or create a pocket to give a lift?

Hello so I have had implants since I was 19 years old. I just turned 50. So I have had my implants roughly 30 years. I can’t complain about them really as the only thing is now they are starting to sag somewhat. If I wanted new implants what is the procedure. Do u remove old ones and insert new or do u have to create pocket in order to give the lift. Not sure if replacing new implants gives the lift or not. Thank you.

Implants do not lift breasts. The technique I recommend is explantation and lift using The Bellesoma Method. The implants are removed, your breast tissue is reshaped creating upper pole fullness, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided and nipple sensation (in 95%) is maintained if not injured during your previous surgery. Later, fat transfers or small implants can be placed if additional volume is desired.

Thank-you for your question. When implants are removed and replaced with slightly bigger ones to give more fullness and a lift, there is some reshaping of the existing pocket that is required. If the implants are of the same size there is little need for that. It is impossible to say if you would need a surgical lift as well, at the same time, without seeing your pictures or an examination, however that may also be an option. breast revision surgery is the most difficult plastic surgery procedure performed. Botched breast surgery alters normal tissue planes and laxity, the ability of breasts to heal properly, and leaves scar tissue that dramatically affects the level of difficulty of the corrective surgery.Many patients come in to correct poor outcomes from their initial surgeries. The most common problems are due to implant malposition, bottoming out of the implant, poor scarring, and incorrect implant size.While the type of revision required will depend on the result of the previous surgery and the desired result of the patient, some revisions involve extensive pocket repair that may or may not need specialized external bras.If you are considering breast surgery revision, you should speak with a board certified plastic surgeon and have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Also, you have to make sure that your surgeon understands your breast augmentation goals.

To exchange, the old implants would be removed and new ones inserted. If you have gel implants, the capsules will also be removed. If you have saline implants and the capsules are thin, they can be left in place. Implants do not give much lift. An examination is needed to see if a lift can safely be done at the same time as the exchange.  If you have saline implants and you are happy, you don't need to do anything.
