Would you recommend replacing textured implants for the risk of lymphoma? Had them placed in 2017, cosmetic results are OK. Recently had a friend get textured ones removed for being recalled . My brand was not. Torn if the risk of revision is worth the small lymphoma risk?
Answer: Implant replacement Dear PA331, the risk of lymphoma is very low. If your implants are not recalled, then the risk is even lower. I would suggest discussing your concerns with your plastic surgeon and making a decision. Answer: Lymphoma Currently, the FDA is not recommended textured implants being replaced if they are doing well and you have no symptoms. You could get an ultrasound plus mammogram to check your breasts. Even removing these implants and the capsules does not completely eliminate your risk now.

Answer: Textured implants The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has reported an association between textured breast implants and a rare type of lymphoma called Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). However, the risk of developing this condition is still considered to be relatively low, with the FDA estimating the risk at 1 in 3,817 to 1 in 30,000 patients with textured implants. If you have textured implants, the FDA recommends monitoring for any changes in your breasts such as swelling, pain, or lumps, and to contact your healthcare provider if you experience any symptoms. If you are not experiencing any symptoms, routine follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider are typically sufficient. If you are concerned about the risk of BIA-ALCL and would like to explore the option of replacing your textured implants, you should speak to your plastic surgeon. They can provide you with more information on the risks and benefits of the procedure and help you make an informed decision based on your individual circumstances. Best of luck !
