Answer: Diabetes and surgery Many of our patients have diabetes. Ensuring safe surgeries with our own inhouse medical clearance is very important. An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.

Answer: Tummy tuck and BBL Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. If your diabetes is well managed and you are able to obtain medical clearance from your primary physician, then you may be a candidate for these procedures. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Type 2 Diabetes and cosmetic surgery Cosmetic surgery can be performed safely in the presence of Diabetes, however factors such as your general health, weight and blood glucose control will all contribute to how well you heal. Discuss in detail with a Board certified Plastic Surgeon who can enquire more specifically into your current health.
