Like any military veteran, remaining in top physical shape is taught as a priority in which this attitude normally carries over into civilian life with outcomes of feeling and looking great. However, at some point your body is going to tell you that days of strict training and high physical activity are over. This is where my story begins as my body said “no more” in addition to the onset of unwanted changes after turning the big “40”. Post back and hip surgery, I was in way less pain, however, I found myself limited regardless of the excellent work from my back and hip surgeons they had performed! I was constantly at a challenge to obtain my old physique but just could not perform in the gym the way I use to. After the long trials of modifying exercise and changing techniques, I decided to explore alternatives which led me to liposuction. As part of me remained doubtful of the results, I went against my apprehension and scheduled the surgery with Dr. John McFate which I am thankful that I did! Dr. McFate and his team at Precision Plastic Surgery recognized my concerns and with a thorough overview eased my thoughts as he calmly addressed my fears and doubts along with his team! I knew there was something unique about this clinic as the answers were realistic, encouraging, and confident that has proved itself all the way through to where I am today. I mostly appreciate the doctor’s knowledge and cultural awareness as for what would be best in my situation. As a black female, my desire was to maintain my curves in which Dr McFate flawlessly achieved! There were plenty of opportunities to take it advantage of my eagerness to get this completed but he did nothing of the sort . Not only was his recommendations of the best quality, they are one of the few clinics that I have spoken to which honor veterans and did so with the military discount. I am more than elated and feel like my old physical self again which I never thought was possible in my life. As they say…I got my sexy back! It feels amazing when others respond to you with “wow” and I would more than recommend Dr. McFate for anybody looking to explore any form of body contouring .
No idea where to begin, but 5 stars is not enough for Dr. McFate and his team. In October of 2020 I had a MMO with Dr. McFate and everything went great before and during surgery. What I didn't know (and of course the Dr. didn't know) at the time was that I am allergic to the antibiotic, Bactrin! 3 days post-op I started to experience burning of my skin and a rash all over. Of course, I was in pain and not very mobile because of my surgery, but I was concerned with why I was getting a rash all over my arms, legs, and chest. I also had a low grade fever. I thought maybe it was the narcotic I was prescribed for the pain, or a combination of all the meds. Since we were in the middle of a pandemic, I had my husband call 911 since he would not be able to take me to the emergency room (they were not allowing people in unless you were the patient - and I could barely move to get in the car anyway. My surgery was on a Thursday, it was now Saturday/Sunday (midnight or so), so I couldnt call Dr. McFate - so I thought. EMS shows up and checks me and all the meds I was taking and advised me to stop taking the narcotic as they thought it was causing my reaction and fever and said that it can cause a rash and elevate the body temp sometimes. They did not feel it was necessary to take me to the ER at the time, especially with COVID19 cases. They leave and I think we are good and I will be fine. THEN, about 10 mins later we get a call from "City of Austin", the lady on the phone tells me that they reviewed the notes from the EMS team, including the meds I was on, and were VERY concerned that what I was experiencing was more severe and they were sending EMS back to get me to take me to the hospital, and they did just that. I had to go to the ER by myself, without my husband, and it was terrible. They were moving me around, lifting me, poking me, examining me and decided to keep me overnight because they thought I was experiencing something called Steven Johnsons Syndrome (SJS), which is a terrible reaction to an antibiotic that causes rash, blistering and makes your skin fall off after a few days. I was not given any pain meds while there because they had to be sure of what was causing the rash and fever. I was 3 days post-op of a MMO (tummy tuck, muscle repair, lipo, and breast augmentation) and I was being moved around and was in so much pain, I just cried. I gave the ER doctor the name of my surgeon and his number and later found out that HE NEVER CALLED Dr. McFate who could have told him everything I had done and what meds I was on, etc. I stayed overnight and was released late the next day after they found out that I was having an allergic reaction to Bactrin (apparently, this is very common with this drug) but caught it in time to prevent a more severe reaction - like SJS. I was finally allowed to go home but had to wait for my husband to come get me - still in so much pain. After that visit to the hospital, things got worse and one of my breast incisions rejected the stitch. It opened it up, and I had to be restitched within two weeks. Then the other breast incision popped open and this went back and forth, nearly every other week for 3 and half months. I had to be restitched by Dr. McFate over and over again (my choice). He did everything right, ordered blood work 3 times to make sure there was no underlying issue that was preventing me from healing. The bloodwork came back clear every time! I had 2 COVID test done, both negative. I had the pockets flushed a couple of times which would seem to be working for a few days, then bam, opened again. Finally, he came in the room on one of my weekly visits and said - "I cannot keep doing this to you, it is time that we go back in the surgery room and remove the implants. We will soak them in antibiotic solution and really do a thorough examination of your pockets to make sure there is nothing in there. All of the test are coming back clear and there is no logical explanation as to why your skin will not grow back together" . He performed a revision surgery in February of 2021. He did not charge me for any surgical fees and from the very begining of my journey was honest, caring, and truly looked out for me and my well being. I really had the opportunity to bond with him and his staff. They all were so concerned for me, watched me cry through the pain and truly showed me that I was not just "another patient" to them, but that they really wanted to see me and my husband through this crazy time and they were determined to make it happen for me. He never gave up, was so positive the whole time which kept me and my husband positive which really helped us get through it. Turns out, E-coli founds its way into my breast pocket and I can't help but feel that it was during the visit to the ER when they had several medical interns moving me around and checking me while I was fresh out of surgery. I actually plan on returning to Dr. McFate in the near future for another procedure.
I have wanted to have my eye lids done for years. I have felt they made me look tired all the time. Then I turned 50 this year and was concerned how my neck was showing signs of aging. I met with several MD before deciding on Dr. McFate. From the first phone call to set consultation through surgery, him and his staff have been amazing. Sarah is so sweet and informative and very quick to respond to calls or messages. When I went in for consult, Dr. McFate took so much time with me explaining procedure and results I could expect. Then again at pre op. His bedside manner is amazing. He makes you feel so comfortable. On surgery day I arrived 15 minutes early, his certified surgical suite is attached to his office, and was taken right back. Everyone was so kind and attentive. Up to time to go home, My surgery lasted about 6 hours. He is very meticulous and wants the absolute best results. There was no rushing you, safety is of the upmost priority. On my post op appointment the following day, we discussed removing the JP drain or leaving in for a week. Normally he would have removed on first day post op but newer studies show you can get better results with leaving in longer. Since I am all about the long term results I will put up with a short term inconvenience. As I write this I am only 2 days post op but can already see the difference it will make in my eyes and neck. Cant wait to see continued improvement. Updated on 16 Jul 2019: I am 5 weeks out and healing fine. I have a small knot (scar tissue) on corner of left eye, It is getting smaller hope it continues. I will see Dr. McFate next week and will ask. My neck lift is still healing as well, There is a hard scar tissue area under my chin that seems to be getting smaller. I do not have a good pre surgery side profile for comparison but will has for MD's photos, big difference.
Love my results! Dr. Mcfate is amazing. Great bedside manner. Made me feel very comfortable. I had a TT with MR and mole removal. Facility clean. Staff is great. Cindy is very friendly and makes you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Sarah is great, very involved. She was amazing from consult all the way through recovery. Very prompt when returning messages. Went above and way beyond many times to help me get approved as well as assistance with paper work for employer. Look no further, Dr. Mcfate's office is where you want to be for all your plastic surgery needs.
Dr. McFate is an amazing surgeon and physician who cares about his patients. He chooses a great staff and every time I go in I feel great when I leave. I have a low tolerance for pain and I'm not sure how he does it but I hardly feel his injections. I highly recommend Precision Plastic Surgery!
Hi all! I'm about 2 weeks out from my pre-op appt and pretty nervous. I've wanted to do this for quite a few years now! I'm just nervous it won't look how I'm expecting it to look. I'm a size 34B. I lost like 15lbs and some of that unfortunately came from my breast. But I'm thinking 350cc or 400cc. I'm doing it under the muscle and my Dr said I'm the ideal candidate for this. Anyways that's all for today. Updated on 12 Apr 2018: Only 2 weeks until my procedure. I'm a bit nervous and some days I get so nervous I want to back out, but that's only cause I don't like waiting haha causes me to think too much. I'm so excited though. To have boobs I can be comfortable and confident with. I've gotten all my prescriptions already. Now it's just wait until the day!
I researched several surgeons to remove my implants and provide a reasonable breast lift. Dr. McFate was very detailed in reviewing my past surgical records to ensure that he could give me a realistic expectation. He listens, ask questions and provides an depth review of expectations so you feel confident. My surgery and recovery went well with minimal pain/discomfort. I personally appreciated his candid and honest recommendations which resulted in the best outcome. WOW! the best outcome exceeded my expectations. I am very pleased with my results. I am a perfectionist and felt that my complete experience with Dr. McFate and his team went above and beyond.
I went in for a breast revision at Precision Plastic Surgery in Austin, TX, and WOW!! I am so happy with my results!! I had saved a whole bunch of “wish” pictures and now my own breasts actually are my wish boobs lol!! I had 450cc saline implants about 10 years ago and had them replaced with mentor 650cc silicone. Dr. McFate is so wonderful, nice, and honest. He guided me and educated me on the entire procedure and made me feel comfortable and excited about the surgery. I’d recommend him to anyone looking for a breast augmentation or revision! His office was even beautiful and his staff was warm and fun! I’m so thankful for the self-esteem boost he’s given me too! After having 2 kids I never thought my breasts would look brand new and 20 years old again!! But they’re the best they’ve ever been! Love them!!
So this was my 3rd go at getting the right breast size. My previous two surgeons left me dissatisfied and frankly walking around with much larger breasts than I should have had. I had back pain, couldn't find clothes, and to be honest was embarrassed about how big my breasts were. I felt like people saw them coming before me - and it just wasn't right. My second surgeon ( in Austin, TX) didn't get it right and I had to go back again for another procedure. So they say third time is a charm - right? This time I found Dr. McFate. He has been amazing and made me feel really comfortable about having the surgery to get my desired look. He took the time and gave me what I was looking for. He didn't try and over sell me or get me to do other things - he was just concerned about making things right so that I would be happy with my procedure. He is just an all around great guy and anyone going to use him will find this out first hand. It doesn't hurt to try someone knew when it comes to surgeons, and I am so glad that I did.
Dr. McFate performed work on my nose for me to address some medical concerns I had related to impaired breathing. He corrected a very deviated septum, opened my nasal passage back up and reduced some turbinates. He also made some cosmetic improvements when closing up the surgery site. He has incredible bedside manner, his staff are all wonderful, and he has a good sense of humor. He personally called to check on me post op and always takes his time during visits. Sara was incredible in supporting me during the suture and splint removal. I cannot recommend Precision Plastic Surgery enough.
Thank you for your question. It actually is very reasonable to increase the size as you are discussing. The calf area is limited on how much volume can be added depending on the individual. Your first calf augmentation has now in essence expanded the area and you may be able to accomodate a larger implant that you could not have previously. Even despite this, there are still recommendations on how large of an implant should be used particularly when augmenting the medial and lateral areas of the leg. Make sure you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon that is particularly experienced in calf augmentation Good luck!
Congrats on your surgery! I recommend to my patients to avoid any cardio activity, intercourse or any activities that will elevate heart rate or blood pressure for 2 weeks. If no issues by 6 weeks, all restrictions on weight training are usually removed If a mastopexy or implant revision is performed, 8-10 weeks may be required to allow for full adequate healing before returning to heavy exercise Follow the recommmendations of your surgeon and discuss any activities you have a question about with them. Good luck
I agree, that at the areas of most tension, the T junction and around the umbilicus, there may be some partial necrosis and it may take a little longer for these areas to heal. If any concern with infection, make sure you see your surgeon quickly, otherwise, follow up with them as plan and allow to monitor your progress. Good luck
There are many keys that lead to minimizing scars: during the operation, reducing tension on the closure, post operative recovery, and applied scar therapy. Silicone based therapies (whether in the form of strips or gel) have excellent scientific data showing improved scar results and reduced scar burden and an overall improved appearance of the scar. Other non silicone based treatments do not have as strong data. I personally like the strips in areas such as TT or breast aug and the gel in areas such as face or places where there may be perspiration and the difficult for the strips to adhere. Most importantly, discuss with your surgeon on their particular protocol and follow that. Good luck!
Thank you for your question. Typically nipple asymmetry can not be corrected with just implants. It may be possible with performing slightly different pocket creations (Dual Plane I vs II or III) but ultimately you may require a small mastopexy (breast lift) in order to correct the asymmetry. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon to examine you and discuss all options. good luck
