I'm 23, soon 24 year old male, suffering from diffuse thinning since I believe the age 19. I was on finasteride from 2019 up until Oct 2020 but stopped due to sexual side effects. I wasn't using anything for my hair until Nov of last year when I started applying minoxidil for my hairline, and then applying it to my scalp since Jan of this year. Recently I see alot more thining around my hairline and scalp, which i hope is just a minox shed, not sure. This is a new pic I took out of the shower.

I’m very glad that you asked are you a good candidate for a hair transplant before you just go running in to get one. I believe that you should definitely try the laser hair helmet and you should also be on the vitamin BIOTIN. And continue with the minoxidil. You could also try a derma roller. At this point you still have more than 50% density on top of your head and if a surgeon tries to put hair follicles in between your natural hair follicles he’ll probably damage as many hair follicles as he is placing. You are still at a very young age but I would continue taking pictures every three months to see if your hair is getting worse. I never recommend doing a hair transplant on somebody who still has more than 50% density in the area that is of concern.

Considering your age and level of thinning at this point, a hair transplant is not a good idea for you. My advice would be to stay on minoxidil and try other non-surgical options, like PRP and LLLT for at least 2 more years before considering hair transplant surgery.

I suggest you continue a treatment with other options like prp, meso therapy with finasteride or dutasteride that is very uncommon to cause those sexual side effects, priorities here are stop more hair loss and then grow thicker hair, so far a hair transplant shouldn’t be an option at your age
