I have Veneers and I'm not happy with the results. My dentist said he is willing to remove and replace all at his cost. But he says that removing the veneers is going to cause me to need a root canal in all of the teeth. I tried to search more info about this, but nothing is coming up about root canals resulting from veneers being removed. Is this common? Do you think my dentist is just trying to persuade me away from having the veneers fixed because he doesn't want to pay for his mistake?

Answer: Root canals after removing veneers Sorry to hear that you are not happy with the results of your cosmetic veneers. It is something that unfortunately does happen. In terms of removing them anything you prepare a tooth you risk having nerve damage to it. Is it rare, yes, should you expect it,no. The dentist is letting you know the possibility in case it does happen so you are well informed. Good luck

Answer: Root Canals Any time a tooth is worked on it is traumatized on a cellular level. The more times a tooth has treatment the greater the chances for a root canal being necessary down the road. If your dentist uses caution not to take off any more tooth structure and lots of water to cool the tooth while he is working on it your chances of needing a root canal are reduced. There are no guarantees one way or the other in this situation. Before you remove the current veneers be sure that you can explain exactly what you don't like and what you would like changed. Before the new veneers are placed ask to see them. It is much easier to make changes before they are permanently placed in your mouth than after.
