What can I do about my incompetent dentist? Wrong colour veneers and chipped! (Photo)

Question

I had my teeth whitened but as I had composite bonding on my teeth I had to wait until they were fully white to get it replaced. As an actress, I needed this doing quick so ended up paying (£139 a tooth). I explained that I had problems with my teeth as a child which meant they yellowed underneath. He got the wrong shade completely, and I had to go back as the shape was wrong and now my tooth is chipped. I had to return six times as he also kept cancelling appointments. What can I do about this?

It sounds like you had composite veneers, instead of porcelain veneers.  Composite veneers chip very easily, are much less expensive and stain very easily as well.  Composite veneers should always be considered temporary.  I would strongly recommend that you have porcelain veneers placed.  Good luck and I hope this helps. As an actress, your smile is extremely important. Composite veneers done by an experienced dentist can look great but these don't. And you are very unhappy. Find an experienced dentist who can place some beatiful porcelain veneers and you will be happy with the result for many years.

I am so sorry for what you have to deal with.  I understand that you need restorations completed quickly, however, I urge you to always do research on any doctor you visit.  It seems that your dentist is not skilled in cosmetics, and you need to find a dentist who has a very good eye for esthetics, and has the hand skills to do it as well.  I would also recommend porcelain veneers over the composite.  The porcelain is much stronger, will last a longer time, should not chip if done correctly, and will look much better over all.
