When does healing and adverse effects from microneedling and Vivace occur?

When do improvements show up? I had microneedling and 2 Vivace treatments in the past 3 months. The last treatment was 2 weeks ago with PRP. I had many red bumps, track marks and scabby areas which have now disappeared. However, I have a few pinpoint holes and developed light brown areas which look like age spots which I did not have before. Family members have noticed them and wondered what happened to my face. I have prepaid for 1 more treatment, but do not want to further damage my skin. Please advise.

It is normal to have redness after microneedling for a few days and this is due to inflammation and histamine release. If it doesn't resolve in a few days, please consult your Doctor. PDT therapy can improve inflammation. We suggest all patients follow up with facials like Silk Peel Dermalinfusion to hydrate, exfoliate and provide the skin with antioxidants. Sun protection is also essential. I always combine microneedling with prp and lasers to get the best outcomes. We do treatments every 3-6 weeks. Best, Dr. Emer

Hi and thank you for your question! Many patients have very little to no downtime with this procedure. However, there are times where more sensitivity can happen. I would definitely return to the practice so they can evaluate these concerns. We have all of our patients on a medical grade skin care regime which cuts down on healing  time and can help prevent or at least minimize some of these reactions. We prefer patients start the regime at least a few days before and then continue in between treatments. These products include Alastin Skin Nectar, Alastin Retinol, along with a medical grade Vitamin C serum, we love iS Clinical Super Serum and possibly another skin brighter, such as Koji Pads. Also, alternating with a Hydrafacial will help with exfoliation, hydration and enhanced results, as well! This will help clear up some of the reactions, the pigmentation and the Alastin Nectar speeds up the recovery time and boosts the results!
