Hard lumps on forehead due to unsuccessful fat transfer (Photo)

Question

I had gotten fat transfer in my forehead. Unfortunately, due to fat necrosis visible hard lumps (cannot be seen on the photos) formed. I have tried fat dissolving injectons but lumps did not react, only healthy/live soft fat cells disappeared. What to do? No lipo is possible? Can be surgically removed?

It is not clear what kind of fat dissolving injection you had; there are no remedies with that particular indication. Injection of steroid like Kenalog may help in some patients or localized liposuction with a very fine cannula. A very difficult condition to treat. Good luck.

It doesn’t sound like you’re in the hands of a plastic surgeon?Sat necrosis cannot be removed by dissolving fat, using chemicals.All that’s going to do is potentially leave you with a big fat deficit, causing an indentation.That was not a very good decision.Necrotic fat can be removed only with direct surgical excision.If it’s not visible, then you should leave them alone. The fat dissolving injections may unfortunately be permanently visible as well.This is not the way this should be managed and I don’t think you’re in the hands of the correct provider.I generally tell people to stay away from facial fat transfer, because the procedure is inherently in precise, unpredictable, and unforgiving if patients don’t like the outcome.For this and many other reasons, fillers are the way to go.Anyone who injects fat needs to have a plan to remove the fat if the patient is not happy.It is your providers responsibility to take care of you after after the procedure.
