What will happen if i have sex 7 or 8 days after rhinoplasty?

I am getting full rhinoplasty to fix a deviated septum, uplift the tip, smooth the dorsal hump. I am getting my cast/brace/packing out on the 7th day. What will happen if i have sex the day or day after i get my cast off? Like will i start bleeding violently everywhere out of my nose?

Thank you for the question! Like most surgeons, I would advise you to wait about 3 weeks before engaging in strenuous physical activities after rhinoplasty. Even if sexual activity poses no risk of nasal trauma, it might elevate your blood pressure and increase your heartbeat. This might exacerbate your swelling and even increase a chance of bleeding.
 An in-person exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon would be the best way to assess your needs and obtain expert medical advice. Best of luck!

Any exercise or exertion one week after surgery could increase your heart rate or blood pressure and potentially cause bleeding.

The risk of bleeding goes up with any exercise or strenuous activity, including sex. We do not want our patients doing physical exercise for 2 weeks following surgery. Just before exercise, you blood pressure will go up, before your pulse. This infrequently causes patient to bleed. After 2 weeks I have never seen a problem.
