Stretched nipples after breast augmentation? (Photo)

Question

I'm one week post op from 415cc HP unders, however my nipples have been constantly flat, stretched and have no sensation. How long until they go back to normal? Will they ever go back to normal? Will I require further surgery to fix this?

Thank you for your questions and photos.  At only one week post-op, there are still several changes to take place to your breasts.  Swelling should reduce and your breasts should drop into place.  In the meantime, please continue to follow your surgeon's instructions and maintain an open dialogue with him or her. It is normal for some temporary changes after augmentation.  These include change in appearance and sensation.  These will usually settle down after several weeks to months. Close follow up with your plastic surgeon should alleviate your concerns.

Thank you for your question and photograph.  The changes in your nipple appearance is the result of swelling from surgery as well as the additional volume behind them in the form of your implants.  Over time, as your swelling resolves and your breast tissue accommodates your implants, you will see that your nipples will return to a more normal appearance and sensation.  Your areola will remain larger than before your procedure however, also a result of the additional volume from your implants.

At one week postop it is too soon to see your final result.  You should feel tight and sore still.  Nipple sensation is sometimes affected with breast augmentation and may take months to normalize so do not worry at this point.  Follow your surgeon's direction and try not to worry.  You should do well overall.

It is quite common to be stretched a bit after surgery.  This is due to the implants and swelling and will take several months to settle. Be patient and good luck.

Your breast tissue including nipple and areola with implants will undergo lots of anatomical and physiological changes during your post operative period. you are too early to say something about your implants. it will take 4 to 6 months to settle down your implants . Don't Panic. You have to pass through the natural healing process. Please continue follow up with your PS . Good luck.

It depends on how far a long you are since your surgery, it can take several months for swelling and numbness to subside.  If no changes after 6-8 weeks, talk with your PS .

Thank you for your question.  It is very common to have some change in nipple sensation and size immediately after surgery.  You are still swollen and still experiencing the normal post-surgery inflammatory process needed for healing.  It is very early in the healing process and usually takes several weeks for most of the swelling to resolve.   Discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon and follow their advice.
