What should I do if there's swelling in my chest after getting hit? I'm 5 weeks post op

I am 5 weeks post op and was playing some football with my friends and i got hit. There appears to be swelling making it appear as though the gynecomastia has returned. I was wondering if there was some special course of action i should take and if the gynecomastia can regrow after a hit or if it can regrow so quickly.

Thank you for your question.It sounds as though you are having #swelling after #trauma caused by being hit by the football, not a recurring #gynecomastia.  Please contact your #BoardCertified #PlasticSurgeon and make an appointment where they can examine you to determine the severity of the trauma you have experienced.

Hi Simn,Thanks for the post. I recommend that you be seen by your surgeon to make sure you didn't develop a fluid collection or hematoma. The swelling you are seeing is not tissue growing back. It is either swelling from the trauma or a fluid collection. Sincerely,Dr. Dadvand

Sorry to hear your got hit! Generally, if the breast gland was removed, gynecomastia does not return at all, and certainly not so quickly. You probably have a small hematoma,  bruise or some fat necrosis.  A  this point, using some anti inflammatory medication (as long as you have no sensitivities or allergies) and putting your post op compression vest back on would be wise.  Lymphatic drainage massage is also something I advise for all my gynecomastia patients. At five weeks after surgery you probably shouldn't be playing contact sports.  You are also healing at this point and any trauma or exertion can induce swelling. Always best to review with you surgeon.Best of luck.
