Sculptra while pregnant - an it harm my baby if it has not entered my bloodstream?

Question

I had 6 vials of Sculptra injected into my butt and hip dip area about 6 months ago . I just went back to get the other 6 vials and then I found out I was pregnant. I know this is not been studied and it is not recommended but has anyone had the same or similar experience? Also how will or can it harm my baby if it has not entered my blood stream? Please give me details as to why it would or wouldn’t affect the pregnancy . Thank you

You are correct that there have not been studies of using Sculptra in pregnant women, so no one can give you an answer with 100% certainty.  But, I think it would be highly unlikely that the Sculptra treatment you recently had would affect the pregnancy that you just found out about.  Even if it did enter your blood stream, I do not believe it would have an effect on your pregnancy.

Since there are not clinical studies or findings to review, it is not possible to give you a concrete answer.  I encourage you to continue with regularly scheduled visits with your OB/Gyn and to report any concerns or changes.
