My nose look pretty straight from side view but it curves down when i smile. Why is this the case? May be the reason is i'm asian so my nose cannot be straight like caucasian. I'd like to hear the explanation from professionals. Is surgery the only option?
Answer: Why does my nose curves down when I smile? Do I have nonsurgical options? People's noses tend to droop with smiling due to upper lip muscles that pull down the nasal tip with smiling. We have not seen good results trying to lift a nasal tip with Botox or fillers. In our experience, rhinoplasty surgery may be the best option for repairing a droopy tip, if this is bothersome for you. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can see from your photo. When your smile your nose tip slightly drop. You can get rid of this image I recommend Rhinoplasty.f you can provide photos with better lighting, from the side of your face and 1 meter away I would be able to make a proper evaluation. It would be more convenient to decide with face-to-face consultation. Best regards!

Answer: Why does your nose droop down when you smile? Why does your nose droop down when you smile? there is a muscle called the depressor nasi septi which pulls the tip down when smiling. this muscle is present in Caucasians as well as Asians, and many if not most Caucasian noses also have some drooping of the tip upon smiling. The situation is made somewhat more dramatic in people with under projecting tips. Underprojection of the tip is typical in Asians but it’s also present in many Caucasians. The surgery to correct this involves rotation of the nasal tip and in some cases supporting or increasing the projection of the nasal tip with various kinds of cartilage grafts. The latter is the most definitive way to correct this permanently. Cutting the muscle which pulls the tip down may create an elongated and stiff upper lip. While I do not advocate filler for this some surgeons may use filler to temporarily increase the projection and appearance of the angle of rotation of the tip. This has potentially serious risks however which you must be aware of.

Answer: May be related to overactive muscle The tip of the nose may droop with smiling if you have an overactive depressor septi nasi muscle. Signs of an overactive muscle also include shortening of the distance from the nose to the lip and a horizontal crease underneath the nose. You can try Botox to block this muscle and see if it decreases the amount that your nasal tip droops with smiling. If it does work, keep in mind that Botox is temporary. Cutting or repositioning the muscle with surgery would give a longer lasting result.
