My nose look pretty straight from side view but it curves down when i smile. Why is this the case? May be the reason is i'm asian so my nose cannot be straight like caucasian. I'd like to hear the explanation from professionals. Is surgery the only option?

Answer: May be related to overactive muscle The tip of the nose may droop with smiling if you have an overactive depressor septi nasi muscle. Signs of an overactive muscle also include shortening of the distance from the nose to the lip and a horizontal crease underneath the nose. You can try Botox to block this muscle and see if it decreases the amount that your nasal tip droops with smiling. If it does work, keep in mind that Botox is temporary. Cutting or repositioning the muscle with surgery would give a longer lasting result.
