I am currently going through puberty, and have had gyno for 2 years, and I hope that estrogen won’t just make them regrow. Is this a realistic fear or is the probability of this occurring low? Please give a very specific and detailed answer, and preferably share a similar case.
Answer: Gynecomastia Gynecomastia is very common and frequently begins during puberty as a result of the hormonal changes that occur during this time. Smoking (particularly marijuana) and some medications can also contribute to gynecomastia. In rare cases a hormonal imbalance can lead to gynecomastia. There is also wide variation in the degrees of gynecomastia. Thankfully, surgical treatment for gynecomastia after puberty is completed is typically permanent unless there are other reasons that are contributing to gynecomastia.

Answer: Gynecomastia and Puberty If you have had breasts for 2 years or more, it is probably permanent and will only resolve with surgery. If you are still going through puberty and have surgery now, there is a slight possibility your breasts may continue to grow after surgery, although in my experience this is very rare. Be sure to consult with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia to learn what options are available to you. Good luck.

Answer: Gynecomastia? If you indeed have gynecomastia then you need to see a plastic surgeon to be evaluated. If you are currently going thru puberty you are young and need your parents involved in all this discussion. Once you have a proper operation then all the excess tissue is gone. The normal estrogen that all males have will not make your tissue regrow. I have been doing gynecomastia surgery for 33 years and never had a patient come back years later with breast tissue regrown. Good luck.

Answer: I currently have gyno, and I want to get surgery. However, I am afraid that estrogen within my body will reverse it. Thanks for your question. The estrogen /testosterone imbalance that occurs during puberty is a transient one time occurrence. So no worries about recurrence. That is, unless you start using marijuana or certain medications which can cause gynecomastia even in otherwise normally developed men. As a precaution you should maybe wait until you are through your pubertal growth spurt at age 23 or so. Regards
