I had breast reduction surgery over a year and half ago. Healed well and overall very happy with my scars which mostly consisted of fine white flat lines. However, under each nipple I have now developed what I can best describe as a bubble. Currently the size of a thumb print. It looks like a blister once its popped and drained of its fluid. (not a keloid). My surgeon said its just poor skin quality? Why is this suddenly happening now? How can I treat it? Prevent it from getting worse?
Answer: Scar Thanks for your question! It does look like your scar is widening. Perhaps that could be improved with a scar revision, but it may widen again. There could still be too much tension on that part of the breast. I would seek a second opinion! Good luck!

Answer: Healed scars "bubbling" Hi, Thank you for the question. Based on what you are describing and the photos, it appears that you have thinned our scar tissue which may lead to the appearance that you are describing. In some cases, scar revision may be performed to improve the scar appearance. I suggest that you discuss your questions and concerns with your Plastic Surgeon and/or seek an in person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon specializing in Breast Reduction surgeries to further discuss your options, specific techniques, concerns and expectations. I hope this helps.Best regards, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzBreast Fellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Ealed scars bubbling up over 1.5 years after breast reduction. What can be causing this and how can it be treated? Hello @Monica513, thank you for your question and showing your pictures. The scar outcome depends on the postoperative care, genetics, and daily movements of the patient. I share a video about scar healing process to shed more light. For more information and recommendations, it is prudent to consult with one or several board certified plastic surgeons. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Answer: Problems with breast reduction scar Thank-you for your query. There are multiple possible reasons for the “bubbling” of the scar. You have mentioned some fluid coming out, which can be because of some residual sutures and reaction to the same. The area where you are having the problem is where the scars have maximum tension in breast reduction surgery..There can be an unstable scar which keeps breaking down , which may need revision, You should discuss your concerns with your surgeon as well as your options. All the best!

Answer: Bubbling scar Dear Monica513, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.
