Soof vs traditional under eye surgery? (Photo)

I'm a 44 year old female that is looking into under eye surgery. I came across Soof surgery and traditional under eye blepharoplasty. I would appreciate your thoughts on Soof, what your practice does and why?

Thank you for your question. The procedure of choice depends on the goal and patient anatomy. A lower blepharoplasty may be the better procedure when large eye bags are present, however, a SOOF lift may attain a better result when there is descent of the medial cheek fat as the primary concern. An in-office exam would be the best way to determine which would give the best result.

Based on these photos, you have no redundant skin on your eyelids. For that reason, transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty, performed entirely through an inside the lid incision, would be best solution in your case. Good luck.

The mid-face does not descend vertically with the aging process, it ages by loss of  fat volume. Due to that reason,  we replace that lost volume in the mid face with cheek implants when necessary. The lateral face and neck do sag with the aging process, that's what a lower face and neck lift accomplishes rejuvenation. The eyebags present in the lower lids are removed through a trans conjunctival approach lower blepharoplasty with the incision placed completely on the inside of the lower lids.

The concept of a SOOF is to lift the fat layers up to 're-cover' the orbital rim (they descend/drop with aging); and as well, recontour the fat pads of the lower orbit/eyelid. It is very logical, natural and impressive in its effect in the proper patient situation. One does NOT remove any skin which is practiced in some parts; and to 'tie down/suture' to tight tissue to avoid tension on the eyelid. Your surgeon can readily explain its benefits
