My eyes aren't correctly aligned. Any suggestions? (photo)

Im worried that my eyes aren't aligned properly. I understand its not a pressing matter but Id like to know more about if and what can be done. I've read about Strabismus, but I don't really understand. Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you for the question. It is very hard to discern what the problem is from your photograph. Please make an appointment with a pediatric ophthalmologist (they specialize in strabismus) for comprehensive evaluation and discussion of possible options. Good luck.

It looks as though you have an exotropia (one eye is out), but this may only be when you are focusing near.  You need an evaluation from a good ophthalmologist.  You also have a small degree of ptosis of the left upper lid which can accompany strabismus.  Again, first make sure that the eye is healthy and that there is not another cause for the alignment of the eye, then consider a potential fix.  Good Luck, Dr Z

If you have eye misalignment, the best thing is to see a strabismus doctor or a neuro-ophthalmologist. An examination of your eyes needs to be done. Photographs evaluated by us only points towards cosmetic defects and if you have an eye misalignment it can be neurological.

It looks like you have ptosis of the left upper eyelid, but it is hard to tell for sure because you are manually lifting your eyebrows.  I would recommend a consultation with an ophthalmologist to assess the condition and recommend treatment.  Good luck!

Thanks for your inquiry. It is fairly difficult to tell exactly what you mean by the picture you sent. If by "aligned properly" you mean the eyes aren't looking in the same direction, then you may have a problem, but only a Board-certified ophthalmologist can answer that question for you. Cosmetic eyelid surgery is definitely NOT what you need right now. Hope that this helps.
