Out of town BBL patient: I have no one to take care of me post op.

Thank you for your question. I would urge you strongly against traveling for surgery. I have provided you a link to board certified plastic surgeons in your area and I would find it hard to believe that if you have called everyone on that list, none of them offer the BBL procedure as it is one of the fastest growing procedures in plastic surgery. Unless you have exhausted all the names on that list, then you have not done your homework and need to do more research.Hope this helps!

     I have nursing available to help take care of my out of town patients.  They provide individual care.

In my office, we can provide you with a nurse to go home with or stay in a hotel during your recovery period.  Check with your doctor.

For out-of-town patients, we can help you find a hotel in the area for a reduced rate if needed. A caregiver is available for a reasonable fee. Seek a plastic surgeon who performs many of these procedures, has great reviews and photos, and is an expert in this field.

Yes! I commonly have patients travel to me for the BBL surgery for similar reason as you have. I have these patients stay a minimum of one night (more if they choose to) in a medical facility where they have 24/7 assistance/monitoring. After the first night they are free to move to a hotel close to the office. We have a medical car service company who can take the patient to the hotel and brings them back for their one week follow up appointment. After the one week follow up visit if everything look good, the patient is free to travel home. I give all of my patients my personal cell phone number (the office also has an answering service with an on-call physician that answers 24/7). I personally have not had good luck with "recovery houses" in Houston. 

Their company from this procedure is not all that difficult but is performed using General Anastasia you will definitely need someone to help you for the first 24 hours.
Many plastic surgeons have connections with nurses or other people they can help you during your recovery.
You could try googling for surgery recovery nurses in the town you're going to but I suggest talking to a plastic surgeon first.
It's generally always a much better idea to stay local or as close to possible to home.
Patient often don't appreciate the importance of in person to follow up, but revisions have been asked to complications.
When a complication such as a seroma happens patients need to be seen every couple of days by the surgeon sometimes for over two weeks.
If this is within a reasonable driving distance then you'll be OK.
If it requires getting on an airplane and this will create a substantial inconvenience, difficulty and potential expense.
Most of my patients can get back to normal activity within a few days after this procedure.

There usually are post-op recovery centers in most cities. You may check with local plastic surgeons for suggestions. You can even try a local hospital for suggestions. You can also call your operating surgeon in Dallas for suggestions. Good luck!
