I had gore-tex implanted on the bridge of my nose about a month ago. My skin is been peeling and itchy. My bridge is red as you can see. I don’t feel any pain or tenderness on the area. Is it just sensitive new skin or is it an infection?

Answer: Do you think this could be Gore-Tex infection or an allergic reaction? Hello Alecks,Once of the risks of using Gore-Tex in the nose is infection. The risk is much higher on revision surgery or in cases where there is a previous septal perforation. As you are only a month out from your surgery it is possible you are having a reaction or it is infected. The best person to determine this is going to be your surgeon with an in person examination. I would recommend you follow up with your surgeon for an in person evaluation.I hope this helps and good luck.

Answer: Rhinoplasty As others have noted it is too hard to tell just with a photograph. Being one month it could be just normal healing or the signs of a delayed infection. Knowing the overall trend over the past month (swelling/redness) and examining your nose in person would allow for a better diagnosis for sure. Follow up closely with your surgeon.
