You may be swollen from 3 to 6 months. At 6 months, The swelling is usually gone and your tissue is fairly well healed.
Post-operative swelling can take anywhere from weeks to months to resolve. I always advise my patients to expect swelling for about 6 weeks and then the swelling will gradually resolve and that can take 3-6 months. The other thing to keep in mind is the area of the swelling. If the area is very mobile, such as an elbow, the swelling may take longer to completely go away. Give it some time and use your compression garments as directed.
You should be able to see some improvement right away. Much of the swelling will have resolved by 6 weeks, but final results are not seen for about 6 months. I encourage you to discuss any concerns you have with your surgeon. Be sure to follow all post operative instructions for optimal results.

You do not want surgery here for the scars would be much worse. However, you can get improvement with radiofrequency with micro-needling to help tighten that skin.
