It is typically best to separate extremity surgeries, or those surgeries performed on the arm and legs. Having surgery on the arms and the legs at the same time will greatly hinder your mobility and predispose you to blood clots or VTE (venous thromboembolism) events. The labiaplasty can be combined with either surgery, but would be best to combine with the thigh lift in my opinion as there is a good amount of self care that must be performed following a labiaplasty and you will need your arms free to perform this self care.
Is it safe to have an arm lift, thigh lift, and labiaplasty at once with a BMI of 20? Thank you for your question regarding whether it is safe to have an arm lift, thigh lift, and labiaplasty all at once with a BMI of 20. In my opinion, you can have these procedures all at once. Therefore, you can have the arm lift, thigh lift and labiaplasty all at once. However, I would not suggest that you have the arm lift and thigh lift together in one procedure, as the recovery is difficult. The logistics would be getting from the bed to the bathroom. You need to alter extremities to coordinate this activity. Therefore, I would do the thighs and labiaplasty during one surgery and then wait 1 to 2 months before embarking on the arm lift. I would do the thighs and the labiaplasty first because you will need your arms to change dressing for the thigh lift, thigh reduction or thighplasty. Once you are completely healed from the thighs, I would consider the arm lift. I hope this helps to answer your question of whether it Is safe to have the arm lift, thigh lift and labiaplasty all at once.Sincerely, Dr. Katzen. Hello Sara! Hope you're doing well!!In my opinion, that would be too many hours of anesthesia because of the procedures lenght. I suggest you to get them done in different rounds, specially the lifts!
Good question! We often see patients who are interested in obtaining multiple procedures to cut down on the recovery time. These procedures can all be done together, but the recovery can be more difficult. May patients find it is harder to stand from sitting and perform many other daily activities because both arms and legs are recovering. My experience is that patients have an easier recovery when an arm lift and thigh lift are done separately. A labiaplasty could be done at either operation.
Hi Sara,These are probably ok to do together, but getting arms and legs done together can be hard in recovery for a few days. You should see a surgeon with expertise and experience. Not all plastic surgeons do these procedures regularly. I suggest either Dr Justine O'Hara or Dr Kelly Thornbury at Pure Aesthetics in Sydney CBD. All the best, Dr Steve Merten
Dear sara anderson,I understand your concern. It is best however that you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine whether you can have several aesthetic surgeries in one session, as this would depend on various factors including but not limited to your general health condition, the type of anesthesia that will be used, and the type of surgeries that will be performed among others.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
I would suggest doing the arms separately from the thighs so that you can get out of bed. The labioplasty could be done with the thigh lift.
Hi! This is a great questions. While it is possible, I would check to make sure your thigh lift does not require a lot of skin resection that would pull on your intimate part because that could affect your labiaplasty outcome. Also, with surgery on your four members, make sure you will have post-operative help in the first 2 weeks for your daily activities! I hope this help a little bit :)
Hi thereIt is medically safe to perform multiple procedures such as this at once however it may not be the best thing for you. It also depends on the type of arm lift and thigh lift you are having and whether your surgeon is doing it alone or with a second surgeon. Each procedure generally takes some time. If you are having a full thigh lift it can take over two hours with two surgeons and longer with one. Arm lift can take an hour and half or more. Your low BMI will make these procedures faster as a rule so labiaplasty can be performed at the same time without taking too long. Your recovery from labiaplasty may be affected if there is a groin incision from the thigh lift as it can be painful to spread your legs for a while making it difficult to wash etc.You should discuss all this with your surgeon. Sometimes it is worth the extra expense and recovery to stage the procedures in order to minimise the discomfort and make the surgical experience less stressful.Good luckDr Mark Hanikeri.
