Why is my stomach not flat after a mini tummy tuck?

It looks like your upper abdominal skin is thicker than the lower. You might benefit from liposuction and scar revision as the scar appears tethered. Flatness is frequently achieved through tightening the muscles but you have a poor transition from the upper to lower areas related to the scar.

Excess fat after a mini TT often occurs when insufficient or no liposuction was performed during the procedure.  After 6 months of healing, a TT revision with lipo can be considered.  The key to an uneven scar is how the tension is managed at the end of the operation.

It's difficult to say what occurred without an examination or pre op photos. From the provided photos it appears you are a better candidate for a standard tummy tuck versus the mini. Swelling should be resolved at six months post op. I encourage you to return to your surgeon for an evaluation and discussion of your concerns.

I would suggest going back to your surgeon and discussing your concerns. A simple revision could probably remove the excess tissue.

in some cases a patient may be borderline candidate for a mini tummy tuck or a full tummy tuck, it seems that this was your case, for this a liposuction could be use a complementary procedure at the same stage or after the surgery, keep in mind a tummy tuck will just take the excess of skin in fat in one particular region but the the fat in the remaining region will be intact.

Thank you for your question and the photos. You should have had a Full Tummy Tuck because the amount of excessive skin above and below the belly button. I would advise a revision to get the results you will be happy with. Best of luck

 I am sorry to hear about your concerns after tummy tuck surgery. Unfortunately, most patients who have had pregnancies and/or significant weight gain/loss are not good candidates for mini tummy tuck surgery, if they wish to achieve a "flat" abdomen. Some general thoughts regarding many tummy tuck surgery: overall, in my opinion, the mini tummy tuck is an operation that produces very limited results and is very rarely indicated. It involves a shorter incision but does not address the majority of the abdominal wall issues present for most patients who present consultation. For example, the area of skin excised is quite small. The abdominal wall musculature is addressed below the umbilicus leaving the upper number wall potentially lax.   The appearance of the umbilicus is not necessarily addressed.
For the vast majority of patients who have had pregnancies and/or weight loss a full abdominoplasty is necessary to achieve the desired results.
