I recently had a 40cc epigastric seroma aspirated (11 days postop) after diastasis repair/mini TT. Any chance it won't return?

Seroma is a possible complication of tummy tuck surgery. There is a chance that it will resolve after aspiration. But also, it is not unusual for it to come back after aspirations so a surgery is the only option. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

The key in treating any seroma is to keep the cavity constantly drained/empty so that it closes in. This can be achieved by either placing a seroma catheter that stays in for a few days or frequent aspirations (daily if needed). Yes it is possible that the aspiration was adequate and no further aspirations will be needed. However, as you mentioned it is not uncommon for fluid build up to return. From your description you are doing the correct things. Continue to closely follow your surgeon's advice and report any concerns.

Sometimes a seroma needs to only be drained once, otherwise it might take a few times. Do have it drained if it reoccurs. Be patient and give yourself time to heal. You may soon fine you love your new look.

There is certainly a chance that a seroma will not return after it has been drained. In my experience often one aspiration is enough. However, sometimes several are needed. The great majority settle within a few weeks.I am sorry you feel it is the worst decision you have ever made. Hopefully it will settle down and you will feel that it was worth it.
