And if I've been on it for about 2+ years will the hair come back in that area if I stop taking it? Or have the hair follicles (transplanted grafts) been permanently damaged in that area?

There are many causes of hair loss.  It is better to follow up with your doctor to find the cause for your hair loss, and get the proper treatment.

Patchy hair loss is not the usual presentation of medication induced hair loss as it usually is more diffuse.
