That is, I wouldn't be concerned. You will find that as you heal the belly button will go through changes, and likely retract more, as you abdominal swelling continues to improve. You can continue to massage with vaseline, that's fine. But you may want to just pick up some neosporin or something over the counter - just to keep your mind at ease. Best of luck!
