Bulging undereye - Would an eye lift fix this? (photos)

Question

Hello. I am 39 years old and have been dealing with a bulging undereye for about 3 years now. Its just the right eye. I was diagnosed with an inflammatory disease due to lymes disease so i do deal with fluid buildup thdoughout my body. My question is.... would an eyelift fix this or would anything fit it? I had an eyelift surgery scheduled and the day of the procedure the surgeon came in and told me that an eyelift would not fix it and he advised not to do it and waste my money...

Thank you for your question and the photo you provided. Lower eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) helps reduce 1) excess fat and 2) excess skin. Since this is a fluid problem, I agree with the other plastic surgeon you saw and would not have the eyelid surgery. I hope you find treatment for your Lyme Disease. Good luck.

Thank you for sharing your problem and posting your photo. If the eyelids are swollen with some form of fluid, surgery is not the correct approach to treatment. Oral steroids might be a good option. Sometimes Benadryl and cold compress can help. If the eyelids have excessive fat, then surgery is a reasonable option. You need a comprehensive evaluation in-person by an experienced oculoplastic surgeon.

The most effective way to treat this condition is to treat the underlying inflammatory disease with specialist guidance and the medications and lifestyle changes that he or she recommends. Dear skyjas,
I'm not sure how you got that close to the operating room.  That is clearly swelling in your lower eyelid from whatever inflammatory process you have going on that would more likely be worsened with surgery.
