Thank you for your question! Yes, you should be able to wipe yourself and perform your daily hygienic routine, such as brushing your teeth, showering, brushing your hair, etc. For my patients, I specifically recommend no cardio activities until they are 3 weeks post procedure, and not lifting anything over 10 lbs or performing yoga/stretching exercises until they are 6 weeks post procedure. I recommend discussing specific post operative instructions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!
Thank you for your question regarding bathroom assistance after arm reduction surgery. It’s very common to need some help during the initial recovery period following an arm lift, particularly for tasks that involve extensive arm movement. For the first few days after surgery, it’s likely you’ll need assistance as your arms will be sore and mobility will be restricted. I usually recommend arranging for someone to help you for about 7 to 10 days, depending on the extent of your procedure and your surgeon’s specific post-operative instructions. Many patients will have a catheter placed during surgery, which eliminates the need for wiping after urinating, and post-operative constipation is common due to anesthesia and pain medications, reducing the need for wiping after a bowel movement in the initial days.As your healing progresses and your mobility improves, you’ll gradually be able to resume these tasks on your own. Compression garments and wound dressings may also limit your arm range of motion temporarily, so it’s essential to follow your surgeon’s instructions and not overexert yourself during the recovery period.Make sure to communicate with your surgeon about any concerns or specific recovery needs you may have. Good planning and having a support system in place can make your recovery much more comfortable.Sincerely,Dr. Katzen
Thank you for your question, yes you would be able to wipe just make sure your movements are slow and carefully, best of luck!
Hi Carla,YES, you have to think of all the little details before having surgery! The answer totally depends on the type of arm lift, garment and dressings you will have. Your surgeon and staff are the best people to address these postop issues! My patients are usually able to cleanse by themselves but please do discuss with your surgeon! Good luck with your arm transformation! All the best, Dr. Meegan Gruber
This is a very good question. You should be able to wipe yourself after going to the bathroom following a brachioplasty. As with all arm movements postoperatively you must be careful.
You will experience some discomfort while undertaking normal tasks but you will certainly be able to wipe yourself.
Thanks for your question. After a brachioplasty, its not uncommon to struggle with some tasks that you will need some assistance with. Going to the toilet is not usually one of those issues. Make sure you protect your wounds, and keep your bandages intact post-operativelyBest of luck
This is usually not a problem. It is important though to try and protect the scars and in my practice keep the wounds dry.
Thank you for your question. Your arms will be swollen and have less mobility than normal, but yes, you will be able to self clean.
As long as you reach slowly you will be fine to wipe your private parts after an arm reduction, clearly you would need help while your are still in hospital overnight with drains in place.
