Why a prescription for Acyclovir 400mg for a neck lift and fractional laser treatment?

Thanks for asking.  I do alot of lasers with my face and neck lifting.  In fact, I usually perform it in the majority of facelifts.  The acyclovir is to help prevent a cold sore outbreak.  This is written for patients regardless of cold sore / herpes history.  I do believe it is the standard of care when lasering around the  mouth.  This medication is usually started before the procedure. Usually this is prescribed to a patient that may have history of cold sores in the area of  face/mouth, for prevention. It would be best to discuss your medications with a physician/surgeon who prescribed it to find out what was exact reason for it. Good luck.

This is something your surgeon should have discussed. The reason is due to the fact you are having a laser treatment which can bring out a herpetic outbreak even if you have never had one prior. This is a prophylactic treatment to prevent a breakout.
