How long does Restalyne Defyne last in the lips? (photo)

Restylane Defyne is commonly used in the lips and offers natural-looking results. While duration can vary from patient to patient depending on metabolism, it typically lasts 9 to 12 months. Some patients even report that it lasts longer than Juvederm Ultra.

While Restylane Defyne does last longer than Juvederm Ultra Plus, the lips are a little different. My favorite long-lasting product for the lips is Voluma (a cousin to the Juvederm family). The lips are a very mobile area of the face and it is easier to metabolize filler in this area compared to others. Ultimately, it is important to keep up with your lip filler touch-ups and consider adding conservative amounts every few months or so. Once you've built your base, your lip filler will last years and you won't need to touch-up as often.  Best, Dr. Anil Shah

It should last longer,  yes. While it is had to truly predict how long they will last for each individual, the price point of Defyne is higher because it is supposed to last longer than that of Juvederm Ultra and Ultra Plus.

This depends on the age and metabolization rate of the patient however, most results last for 9-12 months. However, younger more active patients tend to metabolize filler quicker. I suggest keeping up with touch ups every 6 months. Best, Dr. Emer. 

Restylane Defyne is a dermal filler that is typically used to add volume to the lips and smooth out wrinkles. How long a filler is going to last in your lips is truly a very individualized matter. There are many factors affecting filler in the lips, e.g. an activity of your innate hyaluronidase ( the enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid ) or even how much you talk and move your mouth! After you get lip filler - maintenance is just important. Once the goal of lips size is achieved, we have our clients come every 6 months to get at least 1/2 syringe of filler to maintain their desired size.

I believe that Defyne lasts about 4-6 months in lips and shouldn't last much longer than Juvederm. All HA fillers last about the same. Longer duration lip augmentation can be obtained using fat injections. In 2020, Restylane Kysse is coming to the market and should be a great product. I will give fullness and is very soft. It is very popular in Europe.

In my experience, Defyne does tend to last longer in the lips. I attribute this to the superior elasticity of the product, which allows it to move with your mouth muscles, so it does not get broken down as fast. I find (in general) lip fillers last 6-12 months, and Defyne lasts 8-15 months. I have a subset of patients for whom all of the fillers last for 6 months, and I believe - as Dr. Emers notes in his reply - that youth and activity level can affect duration of filler.
