There is no set amount of fat that can or should be removed, it all depends on how much fat the patient has during time of surgery. There are upper limits of how much fat can be taken out one time.
Often times allegedly new techniques come and go as they are proven not be of major advantage over tried and true techniques. First, I am not an advocate of major cosmetic surgery performed under local anesthesia . I prefer - general anesthesia, because I believe it is safer, and allows the Surgeon to be more effective in producing the best result. Often times, under local- the patient experiences pain and nothing can be done because the patient has already received the maximum dose of local anesthesia. This then prevents the best result. The assurance of a pain free patient- is essential to achieving the best result. The tickle lipo- which is essentially a vibrating cannula- does not - in my opinion- add any advantage to standard liposuction. I would recommend a traditional liposuction.
With Tickle as with any other lipo procedure there are limits to what can be removed under local anesthesia. Your safety and comfort are paramount during this elective procedure. Also, it all depends on how much fat you have in the areas in question. A pinch test of the tissues is helpful to know where you are starting. Then, depending on the thickness of that pinch, your surgeon can counsel you on a reasonable expectation on how much can be removed. The amount your surgeon states he/she can remove along with your expectations on desired results all goes into the decision process of whether undergoing the procedure, in the first place, is a good idea or not.Just given you an amount that can be removed is not going to be helpful unless it is known first where you are and where you want to.Your expectation must equal predicted results.Hope this helps,Dr. Z
