What procedure & what kind of price am I looking at to close my belly button? (Photo)

Hello, thank you for your question. If you don't like the appearance of your belly button (umbilicus) with the piercing hole, an umbilicoplasty may be an option. This procedure removes skin from above the belly button to improve its appearance. If this is something you are interested in, I would recommend scheduling a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Beside the hole one needs to remove a bridge of skin on top! If you want to have this done (local anesthesia) it will leave scar along the upper border of BB! You should discuss this issue with your surgeon before undergoing surgery. The price will depend of place and reputation of the surgeon. Good luck.

This is a very good question, and certainly a very common problem that many Plastic Surgeons perform in our office under local anesthesia.  Be aware that the bridge of skin from the belly button to the opening covers a tunnel that is lined by skin, so when the repair is performed both the opening and the skin tunnel have to be removed properly.  Costs can vary and can be determined after a proper office examination.  The procedure would be scheduled, take approximately  1/2 to 1 hour and the patient can go back to work after the procedure is completed.  You may ask your local Plastic Surgeon about performing this procedure for you.  The technical term would be called an umbilicopexy.Good luck to you!Frank Rieger M.D.  Tampa Plastic Surgeon
