Hello! Thank you for your question. In my practice, most patients will beplaced in an abdominal binder, which they will wear the first week. There isusually a fair amount of swelling and the binder should be opened several timesa day so that there are no pressure points. After the first 7 to 10 days thepatient is placed in an elastic garment for compression over the next sixweeks. Swelling can persist forseveral months and will gradually improve and will look better at three months, six months, and even one year. But, I am not your plastic surgeon. Each PS has their own set of protocols they would like their patients to follow. I recommend you contact your PS to gain his advice and recommendations on scar care. Best Wishes!#Abdominalbinder #3weekspostTT #scarcare
Since every surgeon has his or her own unique post op protocol, you need to ask your surgeon re: the waist trainer. Typically, I require that my TT patients wear a specific support garment for 4 weeks and then they are free to do as they please. In terms of silicone gel, again, speak with your surgeon before using. Best, Dr. Nazarian
Thank you for your question. I would recommend speaking to your PS about wearing the waist trainer, since they are aware of your stage of healing and will be able to provide specific advice.
Patients after any cosmetic plastic surgery procedure including a tummy tuck should adhere to the post surgical activity restrictions prescribed by the surgeon. These restrictions are usually followed for 6 to 8 weeks after surgery.Patients should not be doing any activity or wearing special devices ( like a "cherry waist trainer") WITHOUT their surgeon's approval to avoid jeopardizing the healing process and affect the ultimate outcome of the elective cosmetic plastic surgery procedure.
Hello,Thank you for the question. I recommend that my patients begin applying scar gel or silicone sheeting around 3-4 weeks post op- as soon as incisions are completely closed. The addition of a waist trainer is best discussed with your Plastic Surgeon as they know your situation the best.Take care
Thank you for your question. Though at three weeks your incisions are well on their way to healing, in my practice it would be too early to add the external pressure of a waist trainer. Assuming your healing has not had any issues, you can start applying silicone gel to your scar now. Be sure to clear any changes with your plastic surgeon as they best know your current level of healing.
Thank you for your questions and congratulations on your recent surgery. Every surgeon has different post-op protocol so I would recommend addressing these questions with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. With that being said, I apply steri-strips to my patients incisions, and once those come off on their own (3-4 weeks post-op), I recommend my patients start using a 100% silicone based scar cream. If they are going to be in the sun, I also recommend sunscreen so that the scar doesn't pigment while it heals. As far as the waist trainer, this is primarily up to your surgeon. Only he/she knows the details of your surgery, and post-op garments play a huge role in desired results. Set up a visit and discuss what's best for your healing. Good luck and best wishes!
We do not know you so NO! Ask your surgeon these postop issues! In my practice I might be OK with that....
Hello and congratulations on your recent procedure. The best source to answer these questions is your plastic surgeon. For my own patients, I have them wear a specific garment that I provide for the first 4 weeks after surgery and after that they can wear whichever garment they choose including waist trainers. As far as silicone scar treatments are concerned, these can be applied in my practice after ~2-3 weeks. Best of luck with your results...
Thank you for your question. As long as your incisions are completely healed (no separations, no inflammation, and no drainage) you can likely start the scar therapy. But, before applying any compression garments, you really need clearance from your surgeon. You would not want to do this if there are any healing concerns. Best wishes.
I've seen this circular, sometimes firm rounded area above the belly button on several occasions. At least in my experience and with time, it vanishes. The skin around the belly button is normally pulled down to the abdominal wall in an attempt to give the belly button an umbilicated...
Twisting to put on your binder should not in any way affect your tummy tuck results. Wearing your binder is crucial to your recovery. You do want to stay away from any lifting and/or core exercises/strain. Best, Dr. Nazarian
Hello, thank you for your question and photo. It appears to me that you have had some healing issues with your belly button. I suggest you contact your out of town PS and if you cannot return to him, ask him for a referral to a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for follow up...
