I had liposuction on my abdomen 2 years ago and was left with this unpleasant lumpy appearance. I'm wondering if this is fibrosis or uneven liposuction and what are treatment options for improving the appearance

Thank you for your question and photos. These are limited view photos, side and 3/4 views would've helped. You do not have fibrosis, you had poorly executed liposuction. You have significant amount of fat on your central abdomen and irregularities in the lower abdomen. You also have a liposuction hole (?) above the umbilicus which should've been placed inside it. If you were my patient, I would use the VASER technique to release the scarring, liposuction the whole abdomen including the upper abdomen and over the rib cage, the lower abdomen and pubic area, waist and hips to create a feminine, but athletic abdomen. See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in advanced body sculpting techniques for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.

Residual fat can be treated with careful liposuction. The dipped in placed can be treated with fat grafts. Please go to someone who does fat grafting in scarred areas.

Dear Kind,
Unfortunately, contour irregularities are the most common adverse event following liposuction.  Liposuction is a blind procedure that relies on hand contact feedback and even in the best of hands, remains a blind procedure with certain imprecisions.  Sometimes breaking up the residual fat with a repeat liposuction, coupled with newer technologies such as laser liposuction, RF, plasma can improve the result.  Sometimes re-injecting, or shifting fat from other areas can improve the result.  None of these would be guaranteed however.  Good luck!
