I had liposculture to address my ‘saddlebag’ area and i’m worried it had now given me permanent hip dips. The surgeon made the entry points along the bikini line to hide the scars. However now that I think about it, once the canulla enters the skin, does it remove the fat instantly - which would create indents in the hips if that’s where the inxipna were made? I’m pretty devastated and worried this now can’t be fixed. Will this resolve once the swelling goes?
Answer: Hips You did not say how far out from surgery your are. If you are still in the first 6 months, you have swelling which will subside. If you are after 6 months, excess fat below the dip can be removed. The dip could be filled in with fat. Please discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Answer: Liposuction If you had surgery more than three months ago the outcome you are seeing is close to your final result. Regarding your question about if the suctioning begins as soon as the cannula is inserted, the surgeon has control of when the fat suctioning begins and ends. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

Answer: More information needed Hi there, How far out from surgery are these photos taken? We would need to know that in order to answer you fully. The cannulas don't removed fat instantly at all times, it more effort to remove the fat. Also we turn the suction on and off at different times to avoid removal in some areas. In general it can take a few months for full swelling to come down after liposuction and any contour deformities that are created can be fixed and or improved with revision surgery if needed. All the best

Answer: How to avoid creating hip dips when doing outer thigh, Liposuction There are a couple of techniques that can be helpful to avoid creating hip tips when doing outer thigh liposuction. Incision point is not an issue though it’s helpful to avoid having the cannula go through areas. You don’t want fat removed in The most important variable is probably patient positioning during the procedure. Outer thigh, liposuction is best done with patients laying on their side. Jeff, Kleinman, MD, one of the pioneers of tumescent Liposuction, sells a foam, wedge pillow that is placed between the legs, forcing the legs to be held in an abducted position during liposuction. This is intended to prevent liposuction of the hip dip area and prevent these deformities. The easiest way to eliminate and mild hip Tip is to remove it fat on either side. In your case, this would be the love handles. Delivering consistent quality, Liposuction results is much more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who have mastered this procedure is quite small. Most plastic surgeons think they’re better at Liposuction than they actually are. In reality your results are probably actually above average. Another way to correct the deficit would be to graft fat in that area. Generally speaking, I always find it easier to remove rather than to add if that is an option. What happened to you is not that uncommon and it is happened to me as well though that was fairly early in my career. This should be fairly easy to fix with a revision procedure. Revision surgery for most plastic surgery procedures is probably about 10%. Follow up with your provider and discuss your concerns with him or her. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
