Uneven flanks, dents/ripples on stomach 12 weeks post lipo. Will I need a revision? (Photo)

Question

Had liposuction and Renuvion on upper lower, abdomen and flanks in Jan 2024. 1 wk post-op, noticed right flank was uneven. When pointed out at checkup, was dismissed as swelling. 2 wks post-op, had to get seromas by incisions drained. Now 12 wks out, flanks are noticeably uneven, and stomach is dented, and uneven, especially where seromas were drained. I’ve done my compression garments and gotten weekly massages. Will I need a revision or are there any non-invasive treatments to fix this?

It is too soon to tell what your final results will be. It will take 6 to 12 months to see the final outcome. However, even at this stage, it's clear that you will likely will need a revision procedure -- this is simply not right.

I recommend following up with your physician about their suggested after care protocol. I have my patients wear compression for 3 to 6 weeks straight and then overnight for 3 to 6 months after their procedure. I suggest adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding Vanquish for further fat removal; truSculpt iD, Exilis, Forma, and Venus Legacy for additional skin tightening; and Cellutone / ZWave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance.

Ultimately, if you are unhappy with your results, please speak to your physician and ensure that he/she was a full body VASER Hi-Definition liposuction physician with extensive experience in contouring and body shaping -- and not just traditional fat reduction. I encourage you to wait until you are six months post op before deciding on further surgery.  Revision to the liposuction can assist with asymmetry.  A tummy tuck may be recommended to improve the abdominal contour.  More time is needed to see final results.

You did not post photos of your flank, so I cannot be specific about them. At 12 weeks, you still have swelling and can still improve. Please discuss your concerns with your surgeon.
