Lifting heavy/returning to work after rhinoplasty?

I recommend my patients avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for 3 weeks after surgery.  They should be very careful to avoid bumping the nose for at least a few months.

In our practice, we ask patients refrain from doing any heavy lifting or exercise for two weeks after the procedure to prevent a nosebleed situation. It's also important not to get the nose bumped for the first six weeks after the surgery. Rhinoplasty is a very difficult endeavor, so choose your specialist based on extensive experience producing natural results. Study your prospective surgeon's before and after photo gallery which should be extensive and reflective of their work. It's important to get it done right the first time. In addition, digital computer imaging would be helpful to time in consultation to get an idea what the new nose could potentially look like up upon your facial features. A nasal splint and dressings placed inside the nose will be needed for the first week after surgery. It is recommended that the patient rest as much as possible during this time, and sleep with their head elevated to help reduce swelling. 
Typically, a rhinoplasty patient can return to work a week after surgery. Bending over and lifting heavy objects should be avoided for the first two weeks, and strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks following surgery.
