Mole removal site not healing after 12 days, what do I do? (Photo)

Question

I had a mole removed by shave biopsy on the side of my breast 12 days ago and it doesn't appear to have healed at all yet. I dont see anany signs of new skin and it still appears open. The wound bed is moist, but the drainage doesn't seem purulent. Why might it not be healing/ what can I do to improve healing? (The redness that's away from the site is irritation from the band aid)

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care. I recommend Silagen + Bioshield to promote healing. This scar can be improved with lasers (ProYellow, Excel V, VBeam) and microneedling/prp. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

From the photo, I don't see anything concerning such as infection. Keeping the wound covered and in a moist environment with a thin layer of something like Aquaphor will help it heal as well as possible. Eat a nutritious diet high in protein and avoid any nicotine. Though its frustrating that the wound has not healed yet, it does appear to be on the right road to healing with continued good wound care. I would avoid any scar-products until the wound has fully closed, as these could impair healing. Make sure to keep following up with your doctor so they can assess the wound also.
