Fainting after BBL: Are there reasons beyond the "normal" or common surgical reasons this is occurring with this procedure?

I have read several reviews recently where ladies have stated they have passed out or felt extremely lightheaded after having a BBL. The only common thing in the reviews was the same procedure. Different surgeon and facility, patients are polar opposites. Are there reasons beyond the "normal" or common surgical reasons this is occurring with this procedure? Is there a way to prevent this?

It is not normal to faint after any elective procedure.  This could be a result of over aggressive liposuction which can decrease your blood count or intravascular volume.  For this reason, it is recommended to limit liposuction to less than 5 liters in a single procedure.

Although this could be concerning for a health issue, the compression garment and its removal can cause symptoms like this.

Thank you for your question.  Fainting after surgery is never normal.   It may indicate a need for IV fluids due to blood or fluid loss.   Proper fluid replacement at the time of surgery will help minimize the risk of low blood pressure after surgery.  Additionally, adequate fluid intake after surgery will make sure that your blood pressure remains stable.  Best to check with your surgeon regarding proper care after your BBL.  Good luck.

In a BBL we do very aggressive liposuction to many areas of the body. This is not a  natural process. There is a large fluid shift with the liposuction. After a large fluid shift you can feel lightheaded when going from sitting to standing. You can also feel lightheaded when taking a hot shower as the heat causes your blood vessels to dilate or get larger. I also find that patients become lightheaded when taking the very tight garment off for the first time.
