Lower facelift include double chin removal? (Photo)

Question

Hello! If you're getting a full lower facelift/neck lift, and you have a double(or triple lol) chin, is it part of the facelift procedure and cost to remove the access fat, or is liposuction considered an add-on and therefore additional cost in incurred? I included pictures in case that helps.Thanks!

Thank you for your question and photos. Excess fat removal and treating a double chin are generally included in lower facelift procedures. The neck and throat are targeted directly to remove submental fat, tighten the tissues along the jawline, and tighten the skin to create a smooth and well-defined contour.

A well performed deep plane facelift should include a deep neck lift in this circumstance.  This will address sub platysmal (deeper) neck fat and muscle, in addition to a platysmaplasty to help contour the  neck. The face and platysma in the neck age downward and forward and must be repositioned to achieve a more youthful jawline and neck.

With significant neck sagging you would need a facelift / neck lift with muscle tightening (platysmaplasty). Different surgeons have different names for facelift. I do a full facelift which includes the neck with fat removal, but not removed with liposuction, I also do a mini facelift which does not include the chin. the neck lift only works on the neck and does include the chin. However, this surgery is very limited and used mainly in younger people with large necks. You would also be a good candidate for liposuction of the chin and neck areas with minimally invasive radiofrequency skin tightening like Renuvion. Many patients are getting the mini facelift look with much less pain and down time.  We have some great noninvasive options as well.

In our practice, a lower face and neck lift does include rejuvenation of the neck. It's very important to ask that question with your prospective surgeon. You also have significant fat deposits located below the platysma muscle, so it's you're going to need Neck specialist to address that issue. The goal of a lower face and neck lift is to tighten loose facial and neck skin, tighten loose facial and neck muscles, lift the jowls, and remove fat deposits located both above and below the platysma muscle in your neck which also includes a platysma plasty to significantly improve the jawline. Liposuction alone in the neck will be ineffective, since the majority of your fat deposits are located below the platysma muscle which requires surgical removal.
