When will the skin glue come off?

I had my BR on 8/24/15 so I'm approx 3 weeks post-op...my surgeon recommended me to tape the incisions to aid with healing and scarring. He also used skin glue to reinforce the stitches, when can I expect for the skin glue to come off..everything is so itchy and scabby. I just want to feel normal again! :)

Hi @jmnnn - Congratulations on your recent Breast Reduction. 
 Skin Glue typically takes 2 weeks to dissolve or flake off.  Sometimes it can take a little while longer but that's nothing to worry about! It might actually be better. Sometimes, applying a little vaseline if it has been 2 weeks can help dissolve the glue. I would recommend following up with the plastic surgeon that did your surgery and just let them know if they want you to do anything or not. Best of luck!

The Anchor scar after a breast reduction typically heals well but it is not unexpected to have some areas that heal slowly like at the bottom "T"zone where the vertical scar meets the horizontal scar or where the nipple-areola scar meets the vertical. Kind of at the  6 O'Clock position. Larger reductions tend to have more problems with wound healing but it just takes a little TLC from you and your surgeon and you will heal up just fine.

There are many different types of skin glue, but I've seen some of the glue stick around for up to 2 months after surgery. While I would not encourage you to pick anything off, I often take of all glue/tape from my patients' incisions around 4 weeks after surgery, as by that point it's not doing much, and most of it is off anyway. I would check with your surgeon first. If they say it's OK to remove, sometimes antibiotic ointment or vasline can help, but anything that is really stuck on should be permitted to leave on its own over time.
