Butt lift recovery and using the toilet

Question

Any tips on how to stand up to use the toilet after this procedure? I googled everything I can think of and it seems there is not a lot of information out there. Especially for a bm.

Thank you for your question regarding butt lift recovery and using the toilet.

The most crucial message regarding butt lift recovery is to avoid bending at the waist. This means keeping your back straight from your shoulder blades to the back of your knees. You should not bend at the waist for at least 2 to 3 weeks. As you've mentioned, this can make having a bowel movement challenging. However, there are several options:

The most common method is to stand and hover over the toilet or a bucket. This approach is widely used for bowel movements post butt lift.

Another alternative is to use a toilet seat riser and gently lean against the area. The concern with using a seat riser is the temptation to bend slightly, which should be avoided.

An additional option is to use a bedpan while lying flat in bed. This may be the easiest method, although most patients prefer to stand during bowel movements.

All these methods ensure that your back remains straight. After two or three weeks, bending should become more manageable. Thank you for your questions regarding butt lift recovery and toilet use.

Hello and thank you for your question.  This is often asked during a BBL consultation.  There are many helpful supplies online or on Amazon.  A female urinal helps you to urinate while standing up.  It is helpful to have a faja garment that zips at the groin area.  There are also several different types of bolsters to use on top of the toilet lid that will help keep pressure of your buttocks while you are sitting down for a bowel movement.  I would also advise you to discuss any and all concerns with your plastic surgeon prior to your surgery.

Each plastic surgeon will have their own postoperative protocols. I think most people sit on the toilet to go to the bathroom. I think this is the case after having the BBL procedure and is what we recommend patients. Do I suggest you ask your provider what they are recommended protocol is..
There is no scientific evidence that sitting after a BBL has any impact on the outcome of the procedure.
We generally encourage people to put the weight on the back of the thigh, since that is not the area that was grafted.
