How safe is botox in masseter muscle? will I get bone loss from it? Can I die? What's worst that can happen?

Botox for Masseter hypertrophy is a very safe procedure, as long as it is performed correctly.  Typically, 20 units are required on each side.  The medication acts in about two weeks, but the muscle takes 6 weeks or more to atrophy and change the facial shape.  If performed incorrectly, the medication can diffuse into the facial muscles, altering the smile.  Results may last 6-12 months, longer than Botox for other facial lines.Be careful with "bargain Botox".  Make sure your doctor is board certified in a core aesthetic specialty such as ENT facial plastic surgery, general plastic surgery, dermatology, or occuloplastic surgery.Best Wishes!

Thanks for your question and don’t be afraid to have your masseter muscles injected if that is what is needed to improve the appearance of the skin in that area.   What is important is that you see the proper injector – see a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon and make sure that they are skilled in this procedure.

Botox for the masseter muscle is perfect to get a beautiful narrow shaped jaw.   The results are significant and it lasts for a while.   My patients come about twice a year, maybe every 5 months.   Most people are so happy with their results they don't go for jaw shaping survey and just stay with the Botox.  Good luck! 

Botox is phenomenal for the Masseter muscles.  It does take 2-3 injections to get desired results, but most people are extremely happy with their results.  

Botox works great in the masseter. I think there is very little risk at all of dying!  However I would be sure that the injector his experience in facial anatomy such as a board-certified plastic surgeon.  Best of luck! 

Botox works very well for treatment of the masseter and is safe. Be sure that you see a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon.  Cheap is not always the best
