I have had hypothyroidism for many years (hashimotos) in januar my dose of Levi thyroxine was too high and as a result I was hyperthyroid. My levels are now stable, confirmed by blood tests one month ago but I am due to have vaser lipo in 2 weeks Is this safe to do and would there be any risk to heart etc?
Answer: Lipo Candidate - VASER HD, J Plasma/Renuvion/Inmode BodyTite tightening, fat grafting for buttock lift/BBL, Cellfina/Sculptra all of our patients get hormonal and cardiac workup and optimization before surgery -- especially VASER hi def. I suggest you see an expert. You need a formal evaluation by an expert in body shaping and contouring to determine what is best. Traditional liposuction awake and smart liposuction are old methods and do very poorly for tightening skin or significant skin tightening or contouring. Small problem areas can be improved slightly by these methods. The best in body contouring not only removes fat with energy devices like VASER ultrasound but also internally heat the skin with radio-frequency devices such as J PLASMA/RENUVION, InMode BodyTite, ThermiRF to heat the under surface of the skin and tighten it at the same time as fat removal. These combinations are called 4D HIDEF VASER contouring and can only be done by a well . trained body contouring specialist. At the same time fat should be harvested, PRP and stem cells added and injected into muscles or indentations/cellulite to get body shaping and contouring. This is known as a Brazilian butt lift when you inject the fat to the buttock for contouring and lifting, but fat can also be used in areas such as the chest/breast, arms/shoulders, calves and face. Cellulite should also be treated with cellfina, sculptra, subcision and/or fillers such as bellafill, renuva synthetic fat, or sculptra. If skin is very loose before surgery then it will need to be removed such as lower abdominal skin (tummy tuck/abdominoplasty), breast skin (breast lift), arm skin (brachioplasty). Overall you need a full assessment, but simple liposuction alone will not tighten skin and needs a combination of various methods -- fat removal, skin tightening, defining, fat grafting, skin removal -- to get the best in body contouring and body sculpting. Answer: Best is to have those values as close to normal before undergoing surgery Hello, I completely understand your concern and appreciate you for sharing it. Truth is that ideally, your values should be in normal range before undergoing any surgical procedure. When thyroid levels are not normal or close to normal, during and after surgery, our body may behave differently (and in a dangerous way). Remember plastic surgery is a scheduled procedure, and it can always wait. Your safety should always go first.Hope this answered your question. If not, feel free to contact us. Take care and good luck with your surgery, Dr. Fernandez Goico

Answer: High definition VASER liposuction You need to consult your medical specialists and a board certified plastic surgeon. After being cleared by both you should be safe to proceed with your cosmetic treatment. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation.Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee

Answer: Safety parameters of liposuction with thyroid disorder now that your thyroid medicine is dialed in correctly you should be in good shape. Unless you have underlying medical conditions you did not disclose you should be fine for your procedure. I don't for see that you should be at higher risk than anyone else Liposuction is one of the various safest procedures you can have. The pre-treatment with ultrasound known as VAS ER really doesn't add significant risk in regards to medical problems but does increase complications for fluid buildup and skin problems. Disclose your full medical history it's your plastic surgeon. It's interesting how other providers leave lengthy posts full of self promotion without even answering your question. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Can you tolerate vaser liposuction if with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Hi and welcome to our forum! With Hashimoto's disease there may be early unstable hyperthyroidism followed by hypothyroidism. Your endocrinologist or primary care physician controls and maintains optimal T3, T4 levels. As you note, a recent study demonstrated normal levels. If cleared by your physician, you would be deemed a suitable candidate for surgery. Be sure to inform your surgeon and anesthesiologist of your condition. Best wishes...
