Interested in a lift but unsure whether I need implants as well? (photos)

Hi, thank you for sharing your question. You are a great candidate for a breast lift. The choice of using implants is a personal one. If you don’t use implants, you may not have fullness and may still look deflated. The lift alone will reposition the nipples and tighten some of the skin. I would recommend a consultation with a trusted board certified plastic surgeon.

An in-person assessment with a board certified plastic surgeon would be the best way to determine whether a lift and implants are necessary. It may be a good idea to wear your pushup bra during the assessment to show what kind of result you’d like. If the pushup bra gives you significantly rounder and fuller breasts, then implants may be recommended.

At size 32 G, you definitely do not need implants but need a breast lift. The technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained.

I would recommend you start with a full anchor type lift- allow it to heal and see if that's all you need and you can avoid implants- if not, you can easily add some implants down the road!

Congrats on your weight loss up to this point. If you are planning to loose more weight, I would complete that and maintain a stable weight for at least 3 months before you proceed with surgery to give you the best chance at healing. You certainly will need a breast lift, but I bet you will want to add at least a small implant to give you more fullness and help with breast shape. An in person consult to discuss these options and try on implant sizers would help you make your decision. Good luck.

The best way to deal with this is to have the lift first. You can always add an implant later. A case like this is best done in two stages anyway to get the best result.

my preferred lift is a lollipop lift when a periareolar won't do (ie greater than 2cm lift required). The lollipop technique was created by a Canadian plastic surgeon named Elizabeth Hall-Findley and treats the breast as a three dimensional structure instead of two dimensions (anchor - lift). Most importantly it does not require the horizontal component scars that the anchor-lift requires and breasts appear much more natural, lifted, and less boxy. Lastly, the lift lasts longer because the lollipop doesn't rely on the skin to hold the breast up, its actually breast tissue thats being brought together to support the breast and hence improves longevity. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

With a lift, your breasts will be smaller in that the excess skin is removed. However, if you are a true G, you will probably have enough breast tissue. Wait until you have reached your weight goal and then visit with a plastic surgeon. Congratulations on your weight loss!

From your photos you can elect to have a lift alone. I encourage you to complete your weight loss before having surgery. You may be a candidate for autoaugmentation which provides more upper pole fullness using your own tissue. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.
