Thank you for your question. It takes approximately 12 months for a nose to settle completely after rhinoplasty surgery. Especially with patients who have thick skin, it might even take longer. I don't think your surgery is an unsuccessful one but if you are still not happy with your results after 12 months you should discuss it with your surgeon and consider a revision. Good luck.

Hi there! I'm sorry that you're saddened by your result. Rhinoplasty final results can take upwards of a year (sometimes longer). Nostril asymmetries / excess show, and flare with smiling, can be a very difficult problem to correct when the nose's rotation and tip are changed. There are options, though, which may include rim, composite, or lateral crural strut grafts - all of which help to "push-down" the excess nostril show. I would certainly recommend continued follow-up with your surgeon to see if enough time has elapsed before considering a revision. Furthermore, options such as taping and compressions may help improve the appearance before considering surgery. Hope that helps.
